It was apparent in Mr. Bloomenfield's demeanor and pleads to the committee during the council debate, he didn't want the ordinance returning to committee for further discussion, which also grants input by stakeholders, an option that previously had been withheld from the Rodeo and Charriera communities.
The immense gathering and response by a diverse and dedicated community to save rodeo, had a significant impact on City Council members, swaying their decision to unanimously vote to pass the amended ordinance which in turn, sends it back to the city attorney for a re-draft and committee vote.
Although the ordinance still hasn't been stopped, this is a win for the rodeo industry and an opportunity for a seat at the table and our voices to be heard.

From the beginning, Councilman Bob Blumenfield has led the animal-extremist backed attack on our western heritage and traditions. Flip-flopping all along the way. But now, his intentions are perfectly clear. What started with an ordinance to ban certain rodeo equipment has been revealed as a direct assault on rodeo banning, bull riding, bronc riding, steer wrestling, team roping, tie-down roping, and similar events and activities.
