The Western Sports Industry Coalition is a collective voice, presenting knowledge, experience, and legitimate, objective research to lawmakers to preserve and protect the future of Western sports events and cultural traditions and to substantiate the industry’s unified commitment to the welfare of animals.
The coalition was formed on the heels of animal extremists' proposed legislation, banning the use of western sports equipment including; ropes, spurs, bits, and flank straps, in the city of Los Angeles.
The future of rodeo, bull riding and similar events depends on the unity and actions of all participants and fans. As an industry we must stop animal extremist groups' pushed legislation from passing and potentially spreading city by city.

The ultimate goal of this animal extremist-pushed legislation is to set a precedent and start a domino effect to end like events nationwide. The language in the rewritten 2024 ban is even more concerning than in previous bans, as it includes many more events. “(b) Prohibited Animal Exhibition Activities. It shall be unlawful to organize or engage in any of the following activities for live public amusement or entertainment: Bareback Brone Riding, Saddle Brone Riding, Bull Riding, Calf Roping, Steer Wrestling, Team Roping, or any other activity that involves physically wrestling an animal to the ground, roping an animal, or attempting to ride and remain mounted on a bucking animal.”With a bullseye on events in Los Angeles, your support is as essential as ever, so please sign this petition and share it with your social media outlets.

The Coalition’s four-year battle against the rodeo ban in Los Angeles continues. Although we have successfully stopped the ordinance from passing several times, the fight is not over, and more cities are now following in L.A.’s footsteps. Just 121 miles south of Los Angeles, City Council member Kent Lee has proposed an ordinance banning all rodeos in San Diego. It is clear that extremist groups are waging a coordinated, city-by-city campaign to eliminate rodeos and similar Western events. This is why Western Justice exists—to unify voices, defend our way of life, and stop these efforts before they spread further. Join Western Justice and be part of the coalition working to protect rodeo, Western culture, and the future of our industry
